17 weeks pregnant update + Gender Reveal

Sunday, 12 October 2014

For the last few weeks I'd been waiting patiently for my 20 week scan at the end of October * okay wishing the days would hurry up* The reason I was so impatient is because I just wanted to know whether we were having a boy or a girl. I know a lot of people like to keep it a surprise and not find out until the baby is born but there was no way I could ever do that. You see I'm a planner, I like to have everything organised and planned out months in advance so knowing what we were having would help me get everything ready for when our little bundle arrives. Also, I hate surprises. That being said we were going to wait until the end of October. This was until last week.
Last week I started experiencing horrible stomach pains. At first I thought they were nothing to worry about and when I went to the doctor he thought I'd just pulled a muscle with all he growing going on in there. But on Thursday night the pain got unbearable so me and Matt headed down to A&E to find out what was going on. After hours of waiting around we were finally told that I had a really severe bladder infection and after consulting a senior doctor I was given anti-biotics. After all the pain and worrying that something was wrong with our baby I just wanted to see them and make sure they were happy in there so the next day I decided to book a private scan.
The lady who did the scan was lovely and really took her time explaining everything and showing us our baby. At the beginning she said the baby was in an amazing position so we had a "sneak peak" of our baby in 4D. I really didn't know what to expect but what we saw was amazing, our baby really looked like, well a baby, and we saw them wriggling around and kicking away happily. Toward the end of the scan she asked us if we wanted to know what we were having and of course we said yes! As soon as she got the ultrasound machine it was easy to tell we were having a BOY!
As you can see from the scan, our little man had his legs wide open with everything on display so there was no way to mistake what we were seeing. I can honestly say we're both ecstatic that we're having a little boy. As I have a sister and Matt has 3 sisters having a boy in the family will be a welcome addition and were all so excited!
