Back when I didn’t know a thing about make-up the first
thing I did was head to YouTube. At the time I was a really shy, quiet person,
if I’m being honest I didn’t have many friends and I just wanted to be pretty
and girly like everyone else. I was sick of being tomboy-ish but I didn’t have
the first clue about hair or make-up.
So, I started trawling YouTube watching tons of makeup and
hair tutorials. One of the first Youtubers I watched was XSparkage, and I remember
thinking how brave you must be to film videos of yourself and put them online
where the whole world can see it. Sure it opens yourself up to so many positive
things, but it also opens you up to a lot of criticism, and to someone who had
a lot of self esteem issues that was terrifying.
As soon as I got really into beauty I knew I wanted to make
a YouTube channel, but I was just too scared. One time I actually filmed a
video and uploaded it, but when no-one really watched it I thought that it was
rubbish so I took it down. I know now that it doesn’t matter how many views or
subscribers you get, you should be doing it for yourself because it’s what you
love to do.
So, in the next month, I’ve decided to jump in and start a
YouTube channel. I know a lot of us fear being judged or not like but I think
it’s time I got over my fear and dive right in!
What do you guys think? Have any of you recently started a YouTube channel, or
been afraid to?
I started a beauty channel last year and my first attempt I didn't even post. But I tried again and just "did it"! Now I have a about 60 subscribers and am back at it after a month or 2 break. Coming back, I realized some of my videos have been watched A LOT!! wow (while others only got a dozen or more). I think it's great! Can't wait to subscribe!

Ah wow, I think it's really scary at first it's just pushing yourself to do it.
DeleteWell done on your channel and your subscribers! I'll have to have a look:) I can't wait to get started, and thanks!
I started a channel back in September and I've been too scared to upload anything. I do have two vidoes on there, one was a school project, and the other is a stop animation type thing so I'm not even in it! (I plan on putting one up in a few weeks though, but I might chicken out!) I'm excited to see your first video, though - I will for sure subscribe to you! But I totally understand the fear!
ReplyDeleteAhhh-- I've been told I am a 'natural' in front of the camera, but you are correct... it's such a vulnerable place! But, what the heck, we should just do it! After all, "You only live once!" ;D
