Urban decay naked basics palette

Sunday, 1 December 2013

This weekend I went to Birmingham to go and see a concert and while I was there I did a little bit of shopping *okay a lot of shopping* I mostly bought clothes but while walking through debenhams I noticed the urban decay basics palette.

I'm a big lover of urban decays shadows and I use my naked & naked 2 palettes nearly everyday, so when this was first released I knew I had to buy it... But I never did.
For some reason I kept forgetting to pick it up, but when I saw it was 10% off I had to get it.
RRP £20

Firstly, I love the packaging.
It's very sturdy and is I great size which is perfect for traveling.
One of the main reasons I bought this palette was because I was lacking any good eye shadows to take travelling as most of the eyeshadow I own are in large palettes.

"Our first matte pallete, featuring six gorgeously naked neutrals to build on or wear alone"

The colours In this palette are all gorgeous, and exactly what you'd expect from an urban decay naked palette. The only thing I'd change would be to maybe include another mid toned colour as it seems to me there's a lot of hi lights but only one midtoned. I know most people love hi light colors but because I'm very pale some barely show on my skin.

Venus soft, off-White Demi-matte
Foxy cream bisque matte
Walk of shame very light nude matte
Naked 2 taupe matte
Faint warm, dusty brown matte
Crave deepest, darkest brown/black matte

Venus: inner corner, naked 2: all over, faint: crease, crave: eyeliner.

I used the basics palette this morning and it gives a lovely natural look, that's very, well basic.
If you're a fan of neutral eyes or a fan of the urban decay basics range then I'd definitely recommend buying this. It's such a simple palette that's perfect for an everyday look.

  1. I've never really been very into eye shadow, it didn't really suit me but I'm beginning to think I was doing it wrong. Thinking of purchasing a palette for a real newbie when it comes to shadows, would you recommend something like this? I've been lusting over all the posts about the Naked 3 and don't know if I can stay out of the loop anymore! xx

    1. I'd definitely recommend this palette, especially if you're just starting out with eye shadows. It has all the colours you'd need for an everyday look, and some darker colours for more smokey night-time looks. A lot of pallets have so many colours in them so I'd get a palette like this because its smaller and you won't be overwhelmed with colour choice:) hope i helped xx

  5. This looks like the perfect palette for me as I love browns and nudes. I have a shimmery brown Benefit cream eye shadow that works well as an eyeliner with colours like this as I find that black can be too harsh :)

    1. I think if you just want a simple palette that then get the naked basics, but if you want a wider range of colours with glitter/shimmer then get the other naked palettes x
