Top Spring Lipsticks

L/R Berry Couture, Stormy Pink, Wild Watermelon, Wild Orchid, Saigon Summer, Impassioned

Now April is just round the corner and we're well into Spring *even though it doesn't feel like it half of the time* I thought it was time to put all the dark wintery lipsticks away and for the bright pastel colours of Spring to make their debut.
When looking through my lipstick collection trying to pick my favourite lipsticks for the season, I noticed that quite a lot of them were unfortunately limited edition, but nevertheless I still managed to come up with six lipsticks which for me are a must have for the Spring season.
For me Spring is all about wearing bright bold colours, prefereably with a nice glossy finish so you won't find any matte lippies here.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick: Berry Couture £7.49
Throughout Winter I adore wearing deep plum and berry colours but when the weather starts to warm up this lipstick is the perfect transition as it's lighter but not too bright or in your face.
Revlon describes this lipstick as a shine finish which it definitely is.
The formula is slightly on the sheerer side but with a really glossy finish that makes it super comfortable to wear. The shine finishes from Revlon actually remind me a lot of the Luster lipsticks from MAC.

Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick: Stormy Pink £7.49
Like most girls I love a good pink lipstick and this is an all-round perfect pink shade.
The colour is not too dark or bright, but it doesn't lean too pastel either so it's really easy to wear and pull off. Revlon market this lipstick as a matte but I wouldn't agree, to me it's more of a Satin which is still really comfortable to wear on the lips.

Revlon Colourburst Lip Butter: Wild Watermelon £7.99
Everyone and their mothers have tried the Revlon lip butters and for me they really don't disappoint. Wild watermelon is a gorgeous pinky red shade that leaves your lips looking glossy and berry stained. For me this is the perfect Spring alternative to the classic red lip.

MAC Show Orchid £15.50
MAC describes Show Orchid as a "Very hot pink" and I'd have to say thats pretty spot on.
Show Orchid isn't just your bog standard hot pink though, it has a beautiful purple sheen that catches the light and makes it really unique.
Being an amplified finish this lipstick is very pigmented, smooth and really comfortable to wear.

MAC Saigon Summer £15.50
Heres a little secret, up until last Summer I hated orange makeup, I mean really hated it.
I guess I just thought that it really didn't suit me, but in reality I just hadn't found the right shade to match my complexion. Last Summer orange was really on trend so I decided I really wanted to give it a try, so I hopped on down to my nearest MAC counter and the lovely lady on the counter suggested I try Saigon Summer.
As soon as it was on my lips I fell in love. MAC describes this lipstick as a "Frosted bright orange" although to me I can't see any frost at all.
This lipstick really is the most wearable orange lipstick I've come across, it's also a creamsheen finish so it's super comfortable to wear.

MAC Impassioned £15.50
My final Spring lipstick is Impassioned. MAC describes it as an "Amped up fuschia" if you love bright coral lipsticks then this is the lipstick for you.
It does lean more on the pink side of coral which makes it a lot more wearable. Impassioned is one of those lipsticks you wear when you want to be bold and make a statement!
The amplified finish means it lasts all day long and is super creamy which is everything I want in a lipstick.

So that's all of my top lipstick picks for spring, have you guys got any lippies that you love for Spring? Comment below.

MAC Limited Edition Cinderella & Todelo Collections

MAC cinderella collection
Every single time MAC releases a new limited edition my heart races. I’ve always been a huge lover of MAC makeup, and I can never resist a limited edition item. What makes it even more exciting is when there’s limited edition packaging! In the past few weeks MAC released a couple of limited edition collections that have sent the beauty world crazy.
The first collection that caught my eye, and every other beauty lovers, is the Cinderella collection.  As soon as I hear about the upcoming release of this collection I knew that I had to have something from it, I mean Disney and MAC are two of the things I love the most so anything they’ve collaborated on has me instantly hooked. I’ve heard  a few people complain about the packaging and said that it’s boring but I think quite the opposite. To me the pale blue almost metallic packaging the collection comes in captures Cinderella perfectly and makes me instantly think of the gorgeous blue dress Cinderella wears. I also LOVE the gold accents throughout the packaging as It makes it seem even more princess like. As there were only two lipsticks released in the collection I decided to pick them both up. Both lipsticks are lustre formulas, and although it’s not my favourite, I find them great for everyday wear.

L/R Free As A Butterfly, Royal Ball, Hue.

Free as a butterfly is described as a “semi-sheer golden nude” in all honesty when I swatched this lipstick I wasn’t impressed, it looked very sheer and like it would wash me out.  However when I tried it on my lips I was pleasantly surprised. Because it is on the sheerer side it just gives an effortless, nude glossy finish to the lips that’s perfect to just throw on with any look. Royal ball is described as a “fleshy pink” this lipstick really is the colour I imagine a princess would wear. It’s a beautiful nude pink colour with a lovely sheen finish.  After swatching I realised that MAC’s Hue is almost an exact dupe it’s just a slight bit pinker, so if you like this colour but missed out on this collection I’d give it a try. Unfortunately all of the Cinderella collection sold out within two hours of being released so neither of these are available any more.

mac toledo collection

The second collection that caught my eye was the Toledo collection.

L/R Barbecue, Victoriana
The entire collection came in limited edition art deco style black and white packaging.
Although there were loads of gorgeous things to choose from including some beautiful ombre blushes, it was the lipsticks that really caught my eye *no surprises there* Although one of the colours I wanted was already sold out I did manage to pick up two lipsticks in the colours Barbecue and Victoriana.
Barbecue is described as a “vivid orange red”  as soon as I saw this lipstick I knew it would be the perfect spring summer colour for when I wanted a really bold lip that wasn’t quite your  classic red.
Victoriana is described as a “midtone pink red” although when swatching I can definitely see the pink undertones, once on my lips this colour pulls as a classic pillar box red which is really easy to pull off and super flattering.
Both lipsticks are a matte finish, however they’re a lot creamier than other matte lipsticks from matte and seem to glide on without being the slightest bit drying. At the moment you can still get both lipsticks from MAC’s website for £17.
